A distinct layering of rustic and contemporary elements defines Bistecca, celebrity chef Scott Conant’s second collaboration with S. Russell Groves. Conceptualized through the lens of “Rustic Modernism,” this space seamlessly marries crisp, modern design with natural materials.
Bistecca consists of three distinct components: a formal dining steakhouse experience with private banquet spaces, an upscale bar and lounge able to accommodate live music, and a “burger bistro” adjacent to a large, sunny patio. These three sections branch out from the literal and symbolic heart of the restaurant—an expansive butcher’s curing room flanked by two sleek wine rooms.
The entryway is adorned by marble floors accentuated with bronze metal finishes, providing a crisp backdrop for the rugged reclaimed wood front desk. Glass bubble chandeliers and organic wood slab benches are softened by sheer white drapery. To the left, floors seared with Bistecca’s iron-branded logo lead to the formal dining room where modern banquettes upholstered in taupe leather with burnt umber accents cantilever off statuary marble walls. Hemp rope screens hang seamlessly from bronze ceiling attachments, providing privacy and visual interest between the banquettes. An intimate VIP area showcases a feature wall of meat cleavers cased in glass, cleverly mimicking a modern screen, lit from above and below.
The posh lounge features a handmade wooden bar with backlit bottle display, suspended in clear polished resin, and anchored by a dramatic baby grand piano. The burger bistro and its private exterior balcony allow views into the bustling show kitchen, capturing the restaurant’s relaxed, yet highly sophisticated essence.
