The opening of the premier Ellen Tracy boutique within the upscale shopping center, the Americana, marks a new era for the successful company. Inspired by the clean lines and the luxurious functionality of the clothing, the new flagship defines the company’s new direction with a fresh and innovative setting.
The design creates an inviting residential ambiance, both well appointed and service-oriented. Reflecting the distinctly contemporary American quality of the brand, the new space embodies a classic, mid-century American-Modern design aesthetic – sleek, streamlined, and yet luxurious with a focus on natural materials.
The intelligently proportioned space carefully balances the openness of the entire floor plate with the intimacy to showcase collections. The expansive, open environment takes full advantage of the large unobstructed windows, infusing the space with light and air.
Flowing white draperies create a delicate veil along the entire length of the setting, while a large plane of heavily textured natural travertine provides dramatic counterpoint. Clean lines are contrasted with a deliberately eclectic and rich use of materials and textures, producing an incredibly sophisticated atmosphere. Blond rift oak offsets gleaming Madagascar ebony and ribbon walnut, while brilliant white lacquer and polished stainless steel counterbalance luminous patina brass and dark oak flooring.
Other residential touches include a “family photo” gallery displaying a variety of Ellen Tracy images from over the years, as well as original period furniture pieces by important American designers such as Paul McCobb and T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, and a Florence Knoll metal sofa covered in champagne-hued cowhide.
