Soaring above the water’s edge and overlooking New York Harbor, 1 Seaport is the first all glass residential tower to be built in New York’s most historic neighborhood. Water and sea inform all aspects of the design, from the façade’s subtly tinted glass to the overarching theme of the interiors.

Arriving at 1 Seaport is a glamorous experience; from the stone and brass detailed porte-cochère a grandly scaled staircase leads to the second floor piano nobile, enlivened by a sensational lighting installation composed of hundreds of glimmering softly hued crystalline orbs. This artistic intervention, rising and falling, swirling from dense clusters to sparer areas, serves both as a dramatic sculpture and way-finder. The sun drenched lobby features a double sided fireplace surrounded by book-matched marble and luxurious furnishings. Beyond, a glass enclosed terrace cum light installation brings added artistic interest while serving as a buffer from the busy street. The 24-hour concierge, posted opposite the elevator bank, is chicly housed at an impressive solid marble desk and enveloped by glowing brass walls.

Within the residences, extravagantly high ceilings, walls of windows and glass terraces celebrate the panoramic views of harbor and skyline.  Each unit boasts hand stained oak flooring, custom millwork, and select details that subtly allude to the site’s nautical heritage. European influenced kitchens of rich walnut and inlaid calacatta gold marble are integrated into the living spaces, sliding doors of metal and glass provide privacy or retreat as needed.

The sixth floor contains an exuberant children’s play space, as well as a fully equipped fitness center with on call spinning and training sessions available. Above, “The Water Club,” on the 30^th floor, contains an abundance of rejuvenating offerings, anchored by a three-sided infinity pool – the first of its kind. This unique feat of engineering stretches from edge to edge of the perimeter glass, allowing the pool to hover above the harbor below. Adjoining the pool are hot and cold therapy spaces, including a stone clad steam experience reminiscent of ancient baths, and a teak sauna- both with stunning water views. Linking the pool and relaxation terrace is an interactive misting hallway, with an art inspired rain curtain built into a floor to ceiling window.

Every aspect of the building is carefully thought out – from its siting on the harbor, the super-slender footprint, bespoke fittings and most importantly, the overall experience. From the chandelier and exterior light box in the lobby, to the floating pool and rain shower, the artistic interventions and cutting edge engineering make 1 Seaport a truly glorious spectacle unlike any other.
